Along the clear waters of the Cape Waterfront, under the warm sun, are three friends: Annelize, Hendrik, and Marlene.
They decided to enjoy a summer's day with a long walk.
Hulle het vroeg die oggend begin. Hulle was nuuskierig oor die kus se skoonheid.
They started early in the morning, curious about the beauty of the coast.
The path was long, and the sun shone brightly.
They chatted pleasantly, taking turns telling jokes.
Everyone was happy and excited about the day.
After hours of walking, Annelize begins to feel thirsty.
She tells her friends, "I am very thirsty. We need to find water."
Marlene voel ook moeg.
Marlene also feels tired.
Hendrik, the strongest of the three, still smiles, but you can see he is also getting tired.
Hulle stop langs 'n boom.
They stop by a tree.
Die boom bied 'n bietjie skaduwee.
The tree offers a bit of shade.
Marlene sits on the grass with a sigh.
"Ek het water nodig," sê sy sag.
"I need water," she says softly.
Hendrik searches his backpack for water, but there’s nothing left.
Annelize stands up and says, "Let's try the café across the street."
Hulle stap saam oor die pad.
They walk together across the road.
Binne die kafee, is dit lekker koel.
Inside the café, it's pleasantly cool.
They buy bottles of cold water and sit down at a table.
Hulle voel dadelik beter.
They immediately feel better.
Die yskoue water verfris hulle.
The ice-cold water refreshes them.
They enjoy a bit more time in the café to make sure they are fully hydrated.
Annelize noem: "Dit was 'n wonderlike stap, maar volgende keer neem ons meer water saam."
Annelize mentions, "It was a wonderful walk, but next time we should bring more water."
Hendrik knik instemmend en Marlene lag.
Hendrik nods in agreement, and Marlene laughs.
Sy sê: "Ja, ek stem saam. Maar ek het dit baie geniet."
She says, "Yes, I agree. But I really enjoyed it."
They end their day with a delicious meal at a restaurant by the water.
As the sun slowly sets, they realize the value of preparation and the simple pleasure of a glass of cold water.
