From Strangers to Friends: A Day on Prague’s Charles Bridge
Na Karlově mostě v létě bylo živo.
On the Charles Bridge in the summer, there was a lot of activity.
Turisté fotili, hudebníci hráli, malíři kreslili.
Tourists were taking photos, musicians were playing, and painters were drawing.
Hana, pečlivá konzervátorka umění, obdivovala sochy.
Hana, a meticulous art conservator, admired the statues.
Byla v Praze pracovně a chtěla si užít město.
She was in Prague for work and wanted to enjoy the city.
Vedle ní stál Jakub, mladý průvodce.
Standing next to her was Jakub, a young guide.
Miloval historii Prahy.
He loved the history of Prague.
Vyprávěl Haně o mostě a jeho významu.
He told Hana stories about the bridge and its significance.
Oba se bavili.
They were both having a good time.
Najednou se Hana cítila slabě.
Suddenly, Hana felt weak.
Svět kolem ní se začal točit.
The world around her started to spin.
Slyšela jen šeptání davu, jak její kolena povolila a padla na zem.
She could only hear the murmurs of the crowd as her knees gave way and she fell to the ground.
Jakub rychle jednal.
Jakub acted quickly.
"Hano!"
"Hana!"
křikl a chytil ji, než úplně spadla.
he shouted, catching her before she completely collapsed.
Byla bledá.
She was pale.
Rozhlédl se po pomoc.
He looked around for help.
Lidé kolem něj se začali zastavovat a ptát se, co se stalo.
People around him began stopping and asking what had happened.
Jakub měl nyní dilema.
Jakub now faced a dilemma.
Měl by zavolat sanitku nebo ji vzít do nedaleké kavárny, kde by mohla odpočívat?
Should he call an ambulance, or take her to a nearby café where she could rest?
Nakonec se rozhodl.
He made his decision.
"Pomozte mi ji zvednout," řekl staršímu muži poblíž.
"Help me lift her," he said to an older man nearby.
Společně ji jemně dovedli do malé kavárny u řeky.
Together, they gently led her to a small café by the river.
Posadili Hanu a číšník donesl sklenici vody.
They sat Hana down, and the waiter brought a glass of water.
Hana se pomalu probírala.
Hana slowly came to.
"Co se stalo?"
"What happened?"
zašeptala.
she whispered.
"Zkolabovala jsi," odpověděl Jakub.
"You collapsed," Jakub replied.
"Jak se cítíš?"
"How do you feel?"
Hana se rozhlédla.
Hana looked around.
Byla pořád trochu zmatená.
She was still a bit confused.
"Děkuji ti," řekla nakonec a napila se vody.
"Thank you," she finally said and took a sip of water.
"Mám za sebou pár těžkých měsíců.
"I've had a rough few months.
Občas...
Sometimes...
omdlím."
I faint."
Jakub ji poslouchal pozorně.
Jakub listened attentively.
"Můžu ti nějak pomoct?"
"Can I help you somehow?"
zeptal se jemně.
he asked gently.
Hana přemýšlela.
Hana thought for a moment.
Měla by se mu svěřit?
Should she confide in him?
Nakonec rozhodla.
She finally made her decision.
"Měla jsem nehodu před půl rokem.
"I had an accident six months ago.
Od té doby je všechno jinak.
Everything has been different since.
Ale snažím se.
But I'm trying.
Nechci nikoho zatěžovat."
I don't want to be a burden to anyone."
Jakub se usmál.
Jakub smiled.
"Nejsi na obtíž.
"You're not a burden.
Jsem rád, že mohu pomoci.
I'm glad to help.
Praha je krásná, ale i nebezpečná.
Prague is beautiful but also dangerous.
Musíme se o sebe starat."
We need to take care of each other."
Hana se cítila lépe.
Hana felt better.
"Můžeme pokračovat v prohlídce?"
"Can we continue the tour?"
zeptala se s úsměvem.
she asked with a smile.
Jakub kývl.
Jakub nodded.
"Ale jen pokud se budeš cítit dobře.
"But only if you feel well.
Budu ti pomáhat."
I'll help you."
Vyšli zpět na most.
They went back onto the bridge.
Tentokrát šli pomaleji.
This time they walked slower.
Dívali se na sochy a chytali každý okamžik.
They looked at the statues and took in every moment.
Jakubovy historky byly zábavné a Hana se smála.
Jakub's stories were entertaining, and Hana laughed.
Na konci dne se rozloučili.
At the end of the day, they said goodbye.
"Děkuji ti, Jakube," řekla Hana vřele.
"Thank you, Jakub," Hana said warmly.
"Byl jsi skvělý průvodce a opora."
"You were an excellent guide and support."
Jakub se usmál.
Jakub smiled.
"Buď opatrná.
"Take care.
Kdykoliv budeš chtít, mohu tě provázet.
Whenever you want, I can guide you again.
Opatrně."
Stay safe."
Bylo to zvláštní ráno, které se proměnilo ve zvláštní den.
It was a strange morning that turned into a special day.
Hana se naučila důvěřovat cizím lidem.
Hana learned to trust strangers.
Jakub pochopil, že jeho práce může znamenat více než jen vyprávění příběhů.
Jakub understood that his job could mean more than just telling stories.
Společně našli něco víc – porozumění a vzájemnou podporu.
Together they found something more – understanding and mutual support.
