  • Det var koldt i København den dag.

It was cold in Copenhagen that day.

Despite the falling snow, the small, cozy café next to Kongens Nytorv was bustling.

Lars, a lively man in his thirties, leaned against the café door.

  • Hans øjne strøg hurtigt over de fyldte borde til hans veninde Mette sad henne i hjørnet.

His eyes quickly scanned the crowded tables until they landed on his friend Mette sitting in the corner.

  • En lys skikkelse i det tunge tøj sad over for hende.

A bright figure in heavy clothing sat across from her.

  • "Mikkel, er det dig?

    "Mikkel, is that you?"

exclaimed Lars, reaching out his hand to the man at the table.

Mikkel was an old school friend he hadn't seen in years, and the figure looked just like him.

  • Manden så forundret på Lars.

The man looked puzzled at Lars.

"Sorry, I think you're mistaking me for someone else."

  • " Han smilede og rakte hånden ud.

    He smiled and shook hands.

  • "Jeg hedder Søren.

    "My name is Søren."

  • "Lars fnisede forlegent.

    Lars chuckled awkwardly.

  • Mette så munter ud.

    Mette looked amused.

"Lars can be a bit absent-minded at times."

Signe, another friend sitting at the nearby table, stood up with a smile.

"So you thought he was your old friend?

  • Hold kæft, Lars, du skal have briller.

    Geez, Lars, you need glasses."

Laughter erupted among the three friends and Søren.

They ordered coffee and cakes, and the conversation flowed cheerfully.

Funny misunderstandings and mistakes began to creep in among them.

Lars, still reeling from his error, started confusing more things.

He called the waiter "Mom" and when he ordered a sandwich, he asked for a "kammerjunker" (a type of Danish cookie).

Signe and Mette were almost splitting with laughter when Lars suddenly stood up and declared he needed to use the restroom.

He headed towards the ladies' restroom before the waiter gently redirected him to the men's.

When Lars finally returned, everyone was looking at him, and all he could do was laugh.

"I think I've had too much coffee," he joked.

As they left the café, it was still cold, but none of them noticed.

They were too busy laughing and talking about Lars' mix-ups.

And even though it wasn't Mikkel at the café, it was a day they would all remember.

A day full of laughter and joy that would warm their hearts every time they passed by the little café next to Kongens Nytorv.
