The sun's rays danced in the sky, and the laughter of happy children filled the air.

  • Mikkel og Sofie gik hånd i hånd gennem Tivoli Gardens.

Mikkel and Sofie walked hand in hand through Tivoli Gardens.

  • De nød dagen sammen.

They were enjoying the day together.

  • "Vil du have noget sødt?"

    "Do you want something sweet?"

  • spurgte Mikkel.

    Mikkel asked.

He pointed to a stall with colorful signs.

  • Sofie nikkede ivrigt.

    Sofie nodded eagerly.

  • Mikkel gik hen til boden.

Mikkel went over to the stall.

He looked at the menu, but one word caught his attention: "Kitchens."

He thought it must be some special Danish candy.

He smiled and turned to the lady at the stall.

  • "Jeg vil gerne have køkkener," sagde han selvsikkert.

"I would like kitchens," he said confidently.

  • Damen i boden kiggede mærkeligt på ham.

The lady at the stall looked at him strangely.

  • "Hvor mange?"

    "How many?"

  • spurgte hun.

    she asked.

Mikkel considered for a moment, thinking that Sofie loves sweets.

  • "Ti styk," sagde han med et grin.

"Ten pieces," he said with a grin.

  • Damen nikkede og begyndte at lave enorme mængder lyserød og blå candyfloss.

The lady nodded and began making enormous amounts of pink and blue cotton candy.

  • Mikkel blev overrasket.

    Mikkel was surprised.

  • "Er det mange køkkener?"

    "Is this many kitchens?"

  • spurgte han.

    he asked.

  • Damen lo.

    The lady laughed.

  • "Nej, det er candyfloss," svarede hun.

"No, this is cotton candy," she replied.

  • Mikkel rødmede.

    Mikkel blushed.

He looked at Sofie, who was standing and laughing.

"I thought I was ordering kitchens," he said, laughing nervously.

    Sofie could hardly stop laughing.

  • "Det hedder ikke køkkener, det hedder candyfloss!"

"It's not called kitchens, it's called cotton candy!"

  • forklarede hun.

    she explained.

  • Mikkel rystede på hovedet og smilede.

Mikkel shook his head and smiled.

  • "Det er, når man lærer dansk!"

They carried the enormous amount of cotton candy around Tivoli.

Many children came over and asked for a taste.

  • Mikkel og Sofie delte gavmildt ud.

    Mikkel and Sofie generously shared.

  • Snart havde de hele Tivolis børn omkring dem.

Soon, they had all of Tivoli's children around them.

  • Latter og glæde spredte sig som bølger.

Laughter and joy spread like waves.

The sun began to set, and Tivoli Gardens was illuminated by thousands of lights.

  • Mikkel kiggede på Sofie.

    Mikkel looked at Sofie.

"Even though it was a mistake, it turned out to be a fantastic day," he said.

  • Sofie nikkede.

    Sofie nodded.

  • "Du har virkelig gjort mange børn glade i dag."

"You have really made many children happy today."

They walked out of Tivoli Gardens together with memories of a day full of fun and cotton candy.

  • Mikkel klemte Sofies hånd.

    Mikkel squeezed Sofie's hand.

The feeling of happiness and togetherness was stronger than any confusion over the language.

And so ended the day in Tivoli Gardens, where Mikkel's little mistake brought more joy than he could have ever imagined.
