  • Tallinna vanalinna kitsad tänavad olid täis elevust.

The narrow streets of Tallinn's Old Town were full of excitement.

  • Päike paistis ja õhk oli soe.

The sun was shining and the air was warm.

  • Mari kõndis Raekoja platsi poole.

Mari was walking towards the Town Hall Square.

  • Käes oli Jaanipäeva eelõhtu.

It was the evening before Midsummer's Day.

  • Mari armastas Jaanipäeva.

    Mari loved Midsummer's Day.

  • See oli tema lemmik püha.

    It was her favorite holiday.

  • Ta mäletas, kuidas lapsena jooksis ta koos sõpradega pimedas ümber lõkke.

She remembered how, as a child, she would run around the bonfire with her friends in the dark.

  • Täna oli aga eriline päev.

But today was a special day.

  • Ta pidi esimest korda korraldama Jaanipäeva tähistamist.

It was the first time she had to organize the Midsummer celebration.

  • Raekoja plats oli kaunis.

The Town Hall Square was beautiful.

  • Seal oli suur puhas ruum, kuhu saaks lõkke teha.

There was a large clean space where the bonfire could be made.

  • Mari astus puusepa toe juurde.

Mari stepped up to a carpenter's stall.

  • “Tere!

    "Hello!

  • Kas teil on mul lõkke jaoks puitu?

Do you have wood for a bonfire?"

  • ” küsis Mari.

    Mari asked.

  • Puusepp naeratas.

    The carpenter smiled.

  • “Loomulikult!

    "Of course!

  • Mul on terve hunnik kuivi palke,” vastas ta.

I have a whole pile of dry logs," he replied.

  • Mari tänas ja hakkas puitu koguma.

Mari thanked him and started gathering the wood.

  • Õhtu saabus.

    Evening came.

  • Inimesed hakkasid kogunema Raekoja platsile.

People started gathering at the Town Hall Square.

  • Kõigil oli hea tuju, naer ja jutt täitis õhku.

Everyone was in a good mood, laughter and conversations filled the air.

  • Mari süütas lõkke.

    Mari lit the bonfire.

  • Leegid tõusid kõrgele ja valgustasid pimenevat taevast.

The flames rose high and illuminated the darkening sky.

  • Inimesed hakkasid ümber lõkke tantsima ja laulma.

People began to dance and sing around the fire.

  • Kõik oli täiuslik.

    Everything was perfect.

  • Aga siis, keset tähistamist, lõppes muusika ootamatult.

But then, in the middle of the celebration, the music stopped suddenly.

  • Ka kõik jutud katkesid.

    All conversations ceased too.

  • Mari märkas kõrget tumedat pilve taevas.

Mari noticed a tall dark cloud in the sky.

  • Tundus, et hakkab sadama.

It looked like it was going to rain.

  • Rahvas hakkas rahutult nihelema.

The crowd began to fidget restlessly.

  • Mari jooksis helitehnikute poole.

    Mari ran to the technicians.

  • “Kas teil on vihmakindel varustus?

    "Do you have rainproof equipment?"

  • ” Ta perekond oli aastaid hiilinud suure kasvõi vihmaootel.

Her family had dodged many a rainstorm over the years.

  • “No vaatame,” kostus vastus.

"Well, let's see," came the reply.

  • Nad leidsid suured kaasaskantavad telgid.

    They found large portable tents.

  • Telgid püstitati kiiresti.

The tents were quickly set up.

  • Tume pilv jõudis platsini ja vihm hakkas sadama.

The dark cloud reached the square, and it started to rain.

  • Kuid üllatusena keegi ei lahkunud.

But no one left, to everyone's surprise.

  • Kõik rahvas paigutas end kiirelt telkide alla.

The crowd quickly arranged themselves under the tents.

  • Lõke tõusis ikka kõrgemale, vihm ei suutnud seda kustutada.

The bonfire still roared high, the rain couldn't put it out.

  • Mari vaatas ringi.

    Mari looked around.

  • Rahvas naeris ja tantsis isegi vihmas.

People were laughing and dancing even in the rain.

  • “See ongi Jaanipäeva võlu,” mõtles ta.

"This is the magic of Midsummer's Day," she thought.

  • “Ükskõik mis juhtub, me jääme kokku ja jätkame tähistamist.

"No matter what happens, we stay together and continue the celebration."

  • ”Õhtu jätkus rõõmsalt ja ilma probleemideta.

The evening continued joyfully and without any problems.

  • Lõke põles hilisööni välja.

The bonfire burned until late at night.

  • Tallinna vanalinna tänavad täitusid laulude ja naeruga.

The streets of Tallinn's Old Town were filled with songs and laughter.

  • Mari tundis uhkust ja tänu.

    Mari felt proud and grateful.

  • Ta teadis, et see Jaanipäev jääb kõigile kauaks meelde.

She knew that this Midsummer's Day would be remembered by everyone for a long time.
