  • Maarika ja Kalju istusid väikese maja ees, sügavas metsas, Lahemaa rahvuspargi ääres.

Maarika and Kalju were sitting in front of a small house, deep in the woods, on the edge of Lahemaa National Park.

It was summer, and the sun shone brightly over the treetops.

Wildflowers were blooming everywhere, and the air was filled with the scent of pine needles.

  • Maarika vaatas maja ja puhkes sügavale mõeldes ohkama.

Maarika looked at the house and sighed deeply, lost in thought.

She knew they had to decide what to do with the house.

  • Nad olid pärinud selle vanavanematelt.

They had inherited it from their grandparents.

Maarika wanted to sell it and use the money to develop her business.

Kalju, however, dreamed of living there and being one with nature.

  • "Maarika, see koht on meie juurtele nii tähtis," ütles Kalju.

"Maarika, this place is so important to our roots," said Kalju.

  • "Mäletad, kuidas me lapsena siin mängisime ja pikki suvepäevi veetsime?"

"Do you remember how we used to play here as children and spend long summer days?"

  • "Jah, Kalju, mäletan," vastas Maarika.

"Yes, Kalju, I remember," replied Maarika.

  • "Aga ma pean mõtlema praktiliselt.

"But I have to think practically.

  • See maja vajab remonti ja raha, mida meil pole."

This house needs repairs and money that we don’t have."

Maarika was a city woman; she loved the conveniences of city life and business.

Kalju, on the other hand, had always been a dreamer and a nature lover.

He loved hiking and the peace that the forest offered.

  • Mõni päev hiljem tööde käigus leidis Maarika vana ajakirja.

A few days later, while working, Maarika found an old magazine.

  • See oli nende vanaema päevik.

    It was their grandmother’s diary.

  • Ta hakkas lugema ja avastas uusi asju.

She began reading it and discovered new things.

The writings revealed family secrets and highlighted their grandmother’s love for this place.

  • "Kalju, sa peaksid seda lugema," ütles Maarika, ulatades päeviku vennale.

"Kalju, you should read this," said Maarika, handing the diary to her brother.

  • "See aitab sul mõista, miks see koht on nii eriline."

"It will help you understand why this place is so special."

Kalju took the diary and spent hours reading it.

  • Vanaema kirjutised mõjutavad teda sügavalt. Nad rääkisid armastusest, rasketest aegadest ja looduse tervendavast jõust.

Their grandmother’s writings affected him deeply, speaking of love, tough times, and the healing power of nature.

  • Hiljem õhtul istusid nad jälle veranda ääres.

Later that evening, they sat on the porch again.

  • "Ma mõistan, miks see koht sulle oluline on," ütles Maarika.

"I understand why this place is important to you," said Maarika.

"But it still needs money and effort to maintain it."

  • "Nõustun," vastas Kalju.

    "I agree," Kalju replied.

  • "Võib-olla leiame lahenduse.

"Maybe we can find a solution.

What if we rent the house out for a while?

  • See kataks kulud ja saaksime mõlemad kasu."

It would cover the costs, and we both could benefit."

  • Maarika mõtles hetkeks ja naeratas.

Maarika thought for a moment and smiled.

  • "Hea mõte, Kalju.

    "Good idea, Kalju.

  • Nõustun.

    I agree.

That way, we can preserve our grandparents’ memory and keep the house maintained."

  • Nad leppisid kokku, et hakkavad maja osaliselt välja rentima.

They agreed to start renting the house partially.

This made Maarika happy because her business would get extra money, while Kalju was at peace knowing his nature retreat remained intact.

  • Nädalate möödudes leidsid nad inimestega, kes soovisid suveks looduslähedas elupaika.

As the weeks passed, they found people who wanted a nature-close residence for the summer.

Money started coming in, and Maarika and Kalju spent more time together, tending to the house and garden.

Maarika learned to appreciate nature and silence, and Kalju understood the necessity of practical decisions.

  • Lõpuks leidsid nad tasakaalu ja majast sai koht, mis neid mõlemaid ühe eesmärgi nimel ühendas.

In the end, they found a balance, and the house became a place that united them both with a common goal.

Amid the beauty of wildflowers and tall pines, Maarika and Kalju learned what a true home means.

  • Nad säilitasid mälestused ja lõid uusi koos.

They preserved memories and created new ones together.

And so, the small house on the edge of Lahemaa National Park remained a forever part of their family story.
