Autumn Shadows and Unresolved Roads: A Search for Justice
Sügisesed lehed sahisesid Mihkli saabaste all, kui ta jõudis Tallinna politseijaoskonna ette.
The autumn leaves rustled under Mihkel's boots as he arrived in front of the Tallinn police station.
Hall kivihoone sulandus ümbritseva sügisvärvides maastikuga.
The gray stone building blended seamlessly with the surrounding autumn-colored landscape.
Mihkli süda tuikas nii murest kui ärevusest.
Mihkel's heart throbbed with both worry and anxiety.
Nägemine oli udusev ja pea keerles.
His vision was blurry, and his head was spinning.
Mõni päev varem oli juhtunud õnnetus.
A few days earlier, an accident had occurred.
A car came out from around the corner, and in a moment, it was all over.
Juht põgenes sündmuskohalt ja see jättis Mihkli šokiseisundisse.
The driver fled the scene, leaving Mihkel in shock.
Jaoskonna sees oli õhus pinevus.
Inside the station, there was a palpable tension in the air.
People sat waiting their turn in the dim corridor.
Mihkel tahtis õiglust leida, süüdlase vastutusele võtta.
Mihkel wanted justice, to hold the culprit accountable.
His health, which had suffered in the accident, challenged his memory, but he couldn’t just give up.
"Kus on Eneli?" mõtles Mihkel, vaadates hoolikalt ringi.
"Where’s Eneli?" Mihkel thought, looking around carefully.
Eneli, his friend, worked there, and he hoped to get help if needed.
Peagi leidis Mihkel vastuvõtulaua taga Eneli.
Soon, Mihkel spotted Eneli behind the reception desk.
Ta nägi teda ja astus ebakindlalt lähemale.
Seeing her, he walked over uncertainly.
"Eneli," sosistas Mihkel vaikselt.
"Eneli," Mihkel whispered softly.
"Mul on abi vaja."
"I need help."
Eneli nägi kohe, et midagi oli valesti.
Eneli immediately noticed something was wrong.
"Mihkel, sa oled kahvatu," ütles ta murega ja võttis tal käest kinni.
"Mihkel, you’re pale," she said with concern, taking his hand.
"Mis juhtus?"
"What happened?"
"Õnnetus," vastas Mihkel vaevaga.
"An accident," Mihkel replied with difficulty.
"Juht kadus. Ma pean sellest teatama. Aga mul on nägemine hägune ja peapööritus."
"The driver is gone. I need to report it. But my vision is blurry and I feel dizzy."
Eneli vaatas teda teravalt.
Eneli looked at him sharply.
"Me peame kiiresti vastuvõtuametnikule ütlema," ütles ta ja haaras Mihkli dokumentide järele.
"We need to tell the officer quickly," she said, reaching for Mihkel's documents.
Siis tuli Mihklile järsku tugev peapööritushoog.
Then, Mihkel suddenly experienced a strong wave of dizziness.
Ta haaras peast ja koperdus.
He grasped his head and stumbled.
Asjad muutusid ähmaseks ja ta pidi istuma.
Things became blurry, and he needed to sit.
Eneli oli tal kõrval, aidates toetada.
Eneli was beside him, helping him to stay steady.
"Palun, ta vajab abi," pöördus Eneli kiiresti ametniku poole, hoides Mihklit tasakaalus.
"Please, he needs help," Eneli quickly addressed the officer, holding Mihkel balanced.
"Tal on raport, see on tema kätte vaja anda. Me saame ta aidata."
"He has a report to file, it needs to be submitted. We can assist him."
Ametnik vaatas kohe paberitesse ja hakkas asja kirja panema.
The officer immediately looked through the papers and began to document the case.
Eneli recorded the details exactly as Mihkel had clearly conveyed them during his best moments.
Lõpuks, pärast lühikest pausi, oli raport täidetud.
Finally, after a brief pause, the report was complete.
Mihkel hingas kergendatult.
Mihkel sighed with relief.
"Aitäh, Eneli," ütles ta vaikselt.
"Thank you, Eneli," he said quietly.
"Ma ei teeks seda ilma sinuta."
"I couldn’t have done it without you."
The autumn field lights flickered through the windows, and Mihkel knew more than anything that he needed to take care of his health in the future.
He was stubborn, but now he realized how important it is to ask for help sometimes.
See teadmine jättis teda kuidagi kergemana, isegi kui väljas lehed koltusid ja taevas kattus hallide pilvedega.
This realization left him feeling somehow lighter, even as the leaves outside turned yellow and the sky was covered with gray clouds.
