Autumn Reunion: Rekindling Old Friendships in Tallinna
Värvilised lehed sahisesid, kui Katrin astus läbi Tallinna Botaanikaaia vaiksete radade.
Colorful leaves rustled as Katrin walked through the quiet paths of the Tallinna Botaanikaaed.
It was autumn, and the crisp air filled her lungs as she reached the picnic area.
There, between the trees, Mihkel and Liisa were waiting with a small table covered with old university-time photos.
Katrin oli elevil, kuid närviline.
Katrin was excited, yet nervous.
She hadn't seen her friends for a long time, and life always changed.
Istudes maha, vaatas ta nende poole, meenutades vanu aegu.
Sitting down, she looked towards them, remembering the old times.
Liisa naeratas ja tõstis termosest kuuma teed.
Liisa smiled and poured some hot tea from a thermos.
"Kuidas sa oled, Katrin?"
"How have you been, Katrin?"
küsis ta soojalt.
she asked warmly.
"Mul on hästi," vastas Katrin, kuigi tema peas keerles küsimusi.
"I'm doing well," replied Katrin, although questions swirled in her head.
"Mäletate, kuidas me siin sageli õppisime ja maailma parandasime?"
"Do you remember how we often studied here and fixed the world?"
Smiles spread, and as if by magic, old memories resurfaced.
Nad meenutasid nalju ja äpardusi.
They recalled jokes and mishaps.
See oli nende esimene samm jää murdmiseks.
It was their first step towards breaking the ice.
Mihkel aga oli vaikne.
Mihkel, however, was quiet.
Ta vaatas oma telefoni korduvalt.
He kept checking his phone repeatedly.
"Kas kõik on korras, Mihkel?"
"Is everything okay, Mihkel?"
päris Katrin ettevaatlikult.
Katrin asked cautiously.
Mihkel ohkas.
Mihkel sighed.
"Mul on töö pärast vaja korraks ära minna."
"I need to step away briefly for work."
Ta vabandas ja kõndis tee äärde.
He apologized and walked to the edge of the path.
Kui Mihkel oli eemal, tegi Katrin otsuse.
When Mihkel was away, Katrin made a decision.
"Ma tõesti igatsen teid.
"I really miss you all.
Me olime kunagi nii lähedased."
We used to be so close."
Ta vaatas Liisat.
She looked at Liisa.
"Elu võib vahel vahele tulla, aga ma soovin, et me oleks ikka ühenduses."
"Life can sometimes get in the way, but I wish we could stay connected."
Liisa noogutas mõistmise märgiks.
Liisa nodded in understanding.
"Saad õigus.
"You're right.
Me peaksime püüdma rohkem, auk seos hoida."
We should try more to keep the connection."
When Mihkel returned, he was slightly confused by the change in tone.
Kuid Katrin oli valmis.
But Katrin was ready.
"Mihkel, me kõik oleme muutunud.
"Mihkel, we have all changed.
But that doesn't mean we have to grow apart."
There was a momentary silence, then Mihkel said, "I appreciate that, Katrin.
Me peame tõepoolest rohkem pingutama."
We really need to make more of an effort."
They sat there, amidst the autumn leaves, talking for a long time.
Jututeemad liikusid vanalt praegusele ja unistustele tulevikus.
Conversations moved from the past to the present and dreams for the future.
Everyone agreed that although life changes, they must strive to keep their friendship alive.
Katrin tundis kergendust.
Katrin felt relieved.
She was now sure she could express her feelings.
Sõbrad kallistasid mõnusalt, kui nad lahkuma hakkasid.
The friends embraced warmly as they began to part ways.
The day's end brought the thought that even though the snow was yet to fall, their friendship had been reignited.
Tagasiteel peatus Katrin hetkeks, et vaadata ilu ümberringi.
On the way back, Katrin paused for a moment to take in the beauty around her.
The Botaanikaaed reminded her that there is spring and fresh growth even when the leaves fall.
Just nagu nende sõprus.
Just like their friendship.
