Finding Holiday Magic Beyond the Shopping List
Maarjat ja Raimot ootas ees sügise üks mõnusamaid hetki – jõuluostlemine kaubanduskeskuses.
Maarjat and Raimot were looking forward to one of the nicest moments of the autumn – Christmas shopping in the mall.
It was chilly outside, but inside there was a cozy atmosphere.
Kõikjal särasid valguskettad ja õhus hõljus kaneeli lõhn.
Everywhere, light discs shone and the scent of cinnamon lingered in the air.
Maarja oli elevil.
Maarja was excited.
She planned to make this year memorable for her family and friends.
Ta seadis endale eesmärgiks leida südamlikud kingid.
She set herself the goal of finding heartfelt gifts.
Raimo oli aga teistsuguses meeleolus.
Raimo, however, was in a different mood.
Teda kurnas rahvamass ja pidev sagimine.
He was exhausted by the crowd and constant hustle.
Ta soovis nautida pühi lihtsalt ja rahulikult.
He wanted to enjoy the holidays simply and peacefully.
Nad sisenesid esimesele korrusele, kus rahvas tungles, otsides sooduspakkumisi.
They entered the first floor, where people were thronging, searching for discounts.
Maarja grabbed her list within reach, full of carefully chosen names and items.
"Me peame need asjad saama," ütles ta kindlalt.
"We need to get these things," she said firmly.
Raimo nodded, but his thoughts already wandered to the break intended for a hot chocolate café.
Maarja moved decisively, searching in every store for exactly those gifts that were listed on her list.
Raimo jälgis vaikselt, kuidas Maarja peatus, et hinnata igat eset.
Raimo quietly watched as Maarja stopped to assess each item.
Finally, when they reached the third floor, Raimo felt that the need to smile and ponder the world wasn't going away.
"Kuidas oleks, kui teeksime väikese pausi?
"How about we take a little break?
Seal all aatriumis laulavad lapsed jõulukoraale," pakkus ta naeratades.
Down there in the atrium, children are singing Christmas carols," he suggested with a smile.
Maarja vaatas oma märkmetest üles.
Maarja looked up from her notes.
She was focused, but Raimo's suggestion seemed tempting.
Noogutades suundusid nad aatriumi poole, kus kõlasid rõõmsad hääled.
Nodding, they headed toward the atrium, where joyful voices echoed.
Lapsed laulsid, nende hääled kajasid rõõmsalt läbi kaubanduskeskuse.
The children sang, their voices joyfully resonating through the mall.
Kuid mida rohkem aeg edasi läks, seda selgemaks sai, et nad pidid omavahel rääkima.
But as more time passed, it became clearer that they needed to talk to each other.
Maarja felt that she had to control everything to make the holidays perfect.
For Raimo, it was important to simply enjoy the moment and be together.
"Näed, Maarja, pühad ei pea olema täiuslikud kingituste pärast," ütles Raimo soojalt, kui nad lõpuks istusid pingile.
"You see, Maarja, the holidays don't have to be perfect because of the gifts," said Raimo warmly when they finally sat on a bench.
"Oleme ju siin, koos.
"We're here, together.
See ongi kõige olulisem."
That's the most important."
Maarja vaatas Raimot.
Maarja looked at Raimo.
"Ma tean, aga tahan, et teistel oleks eriline jõuluaeg," vastas ta vaikselt.
"I know, but I want others to have a special Christmas," she replied quietly.
"Aga ma pean õppima, et see erilisus ei tule ainult kingitustest."
"But I have to learn that this specialness doesn't only come from gifts."
After that conversation, they decided to leave the mall and go out into the fresh air.
Väljas hingasid nad sügavalt sisse ja vaatasid, kuidas inimesed kiirelt ringi liikusid.
Outside, they took a deep breath and watched people moving quickly.
"Teeme väikse jalutuskäigu ja siis läheme tagasi koju," pakkus Maarja lõpuks.
"Let's take a little walk and then go back home," Maarja finally suggested.
Raimo noogutas ja naeratas.
Raimo nodded and smiled.
"Ja lõpetame päeva kuuma šokolaadiga."
"And we'll end the day with hot chocolate."
Thus, a friendly and pleasant Christmas time awaited them, where gifts were necessary, but not the main thing.
Koos veedetud aeg oli kõige olulisem.
The time spent together was the most important.
And they both found that it was the best decision ever.
