  • Lá amháin, bhí Aoife ag siúl cois na farraige ag na hAillte Móire.

One day, Aoife was walking by the sea at the Cliffs of Moher.

  • Bhí an ghrian ag scoilteadh na gcloch, agus bhí gaoth láidir ag séideadh ón aigéan.

The sun was splitting the stones, and a strong wind was blowing from the ocean.

  • Bhí hata deas bándearg uirthi, a bhí an-tábhachtach di mar gur bronntanas óna seanmháthair é.

She had a lovely pink hat on, which was very important to her as it was a gift from her grandmother.

  • Ag an am céanna, bhí Seán, buachaill óg ón sráidbhaile in aice láimhe, ag dul i dtreo na hAillte chun taitneamh a bhaint as radharc na farraige.

At the same time, Sean, a young boy from the nearby village, was heading towards the Cliffs to enjoy the sight of the sea.

  • Grianmhar ach gaofar ba ea an lá, agus bhí lúcháir ar Shéan gur féidir leis an lá álainn seo a chaitheamh amuigh faoin aer.

It was sunny but windy, and Sean was glad to be able to spend this beautiful day outdoors.

  • Faoi dhéin na hAillte, bhí Aoife ag siúl go cúramach, ag breathnú amach thar an imeall ag an uisce glégeal thíos.

Amid the Cliffs, Aoife was walking carefully, looking out over the edge at the sparkling water below.

  • Ach, gan choinne, shéid an ghaoth níos treise, agus bhaineann sé an hata bándearg de cheann Aoife.

But suddenly, a stronger gust of wind blew, and it blew Aoife's pink hat off her head.

  • D'eitil an hata san aer, thar Aoife agus anuas thar na hAillte.

The hat flew into the air, above Aoife and over the Cliffs.

  • Bhí Aoife an-bhuartha.

    Aoife was very worried.

  • Chuaigh sí go dtí an imeall, ach bhí an hata imithe, léim sé thar na carraigeacha.

She went to the edge, but the hat was gone, it leaped over the rocks.

  • Sheas sí ann, ag faire síos, súil aici go bhfeicfeadh sí an hata arís.

She stood there, looking down, hoping to see the hat again.

  • Níos ísle faoin aill, bhí Seán ag siúl gan a bheith ag súil le haon rud neamhghnách, nuair a tháinig rud éigin bándearg ag eitilt sa spéir agus go tobann, tuirling an hata díreach ar a cheann!

Below the cliffs, Sean was walking without expecting anything unusual, when something pink flew in the sky and suddenly, the hat landed right on his head!

  • Bhí ionadh an domhain air.

    He was amazed.

  • Bhreathnaigh sé thart, ach ní fhaca sé aon duine.

He looked around, but he didn't see anyone.

  • D'ardaigh sé an hata agus thug sé féachaint air.

He lifted the hat and looked at it.

  • Ba léir gur sean-hata le mothú speisialta a bhí ann.

It was clear that it was a special old hat.

  • Thíos ag bun na hAillte, thug Seán faoi deara Aoife ag breathnú anuas uaidh.

Down at the bottom of the Cliffs, Sean noticed Aoife looking down at him.

  • Chroch sé an hata san aer agus lig sé béic mhór.

He flung the hat in the air and shouted.

  • "A bhfuil an hata seo leat?

    "Is this hat yours?"

  • " a ghlaoigh sé suas chuici.

    he called up to her.

  • Chuala Aoife é agus bhí faoiseamh agus áthas uirthi.

Aoife heard him and felt relief and joy.

  • Thosaigh sí ag rith síos an cosán chun buíochas a ghabháil le Seán.

She started running down the path to thank Sean.

  • Nuair a bhuail siad lena chéile, bhí miongháire ar Aoife.

When they met, Aoife had a small smile.

  • "Go raibh maith agat!

    "Thank you!

  • Is mór agam é seo.

This means a lot to me.

  • Is é an t-aon chuimhne a bhí agam ar mo sheanmháthair," ar sise le fíor bhuíochas.

It's the only memory I had of my grandmother," she said with genuine gratitude.

  • Mhol Seán go láidir di, agus thairg sé di tae sa bhaile in aice láimhe.

Sean strongly praised her, and offered her tea at a nearby house.

  • D'aontaigh Aoife go sona sásta, agus shiúil siad le chéile, ag caint agus ag gáire.

Aoife happily agreed, and they walked together, talking and laughing.

  • Bhí tús cairdeas nua ag spréachadh eatarthu agus an ghrian ag dul faoi i bhfad ó dheas.

A new friendship was blossoming between them and the sun was setting far to the south.

  • Ón lá sin ar aghaidh, bhí Aoife agus Seán ina gcairde maithe, agus gach uair a chaitheadh Aoife an hata bándearg, mheabhraigh sé di an lá ar bhuail sí le Seán cois na hAillte Móire.

From that day on, Aoife and Sean became good friends, and every time Aoife wore the pink hat, it reminded her of the day she met Sean at the Cliffs of Moher.

  • Chríochnaigh a n-eachtra le sonas ann agus cairdeas a mhairfeadh go deo.

Their adventure ended there with happiness and a friendship that would last forever.
