A wintery and rainy morning broke out in the quiet neighborhood in the south of Tel Aviv.

צלילי הגשם התנגן במוזיקה מתמשכת על הגגות, וריח האוויר הקריר הביא איתו תחושת סודניות.

The sound of the rain played in continuous music on the roofs, and the scent of the cool air carried with it a sense of secrecy.

אבי, ילד בן 12 עם תלתלים פרועים ועיניים סקרניות, הביט מהחלון למרחק.

Avi, a 12-year-old boy with wild curls and curious eyes, gazed out the window into the distance.

"תראו את הבית הישן ההוא," הוא לחש לעצמו.

"Look at that old house," he whispered to himself.

תמיד היה משהו מוזר בבית הנטוש בסוף הרחוב.

It had a peculiar light, glowing on the cold nights of Hanukkah.

אף אחד לא ידע מי או מה מאיר שם.

No one knew who or what illuminated it.

נֹעה, שעימד אודות לשכור מטריה ולשלוף ממנה את טיפותיה, נעמדה לידו.

Noa, who stood soaking up drops after renting an umbrella, stood beside him.

"מה אתה עושה, אבי?" שאלה בקול שקט.

"What are you doing, Avi?" she asked in a quiet voice.

"אני חייב לגלות מה מסתתר שם," אמר אבי בהתלהבות.

"I have to find out what's hidden there," Avi said excitedly.

"למה אתה רוצה להסתבך בצרות?" התנגדה נֹעה, שקטה אבל תמיד עוקבת.

"Why do you want to get into trouble?" Noa objected, quiet but always observant.

הלילה הגיע.

Night fell.

דרך חלונות ביתם, הצללים של נרות החנוכה ריקדו על הקירות, מזכירים את האור החם שבחוץ.

Through their home's windows, the shadows of the Hanukkah candles danced on the walls, reminiscent of the warm light outside.

הורי אבי כבר סיפרו לו מספיק פעמים על הבית והאיסור להתקרב אליו, אבל הסקרנות שלו ניצחה.

Avi's parents had told him enough times about the house and the prohibition against approaching it, but his curiosity prevailed.

"זה עכשיו או לעולם לא," לחש אבי בטון נחוש, מביט בנֹעה בעיניים נוצצות.

"It's now or never," whispered Avi with determination, looking at Noa with sparkling eyes.

"Maybe it's just an old spirit."

נֹעה כיווצה את שפתיה בניסיון להבין את מהלך העניינים.

Noa pursed her lips, trying to understand his intention.

"טוב... אני אבוא איתך," הסכימה באי רצון.

"Okay... I'll come with you," she reluctantly agreed.

בחושך הם התגנבו בין הצללים, עברו את הרחוב המוכר לעבר הבית המסתורי.

In the dark, they snuck through the shadows, crossing the familiar street toward the mysterious house.

השער היה ישן וחרק קלות כשהם נכנסו לחצר.

The gate was old and creaked slightly as they entered the yard.

גן פראי נשאר סובב אותם בדרכם אל הדלת.

A wild garden surrounded them as they made their way to the door.

בתוך הבית היה חשוך וקר.

Inside the house, it was dark and cold.

אבל, אז ראו את האור - מנורה קטנה, מסתובבת כמו כוכב שבתוך המטבח הנטוש.

But then they saw the light—a small lamp, spinning like a star within the abandoned kitchen.

They approached cautiously, and suddenly Noa touched Avi's shoulder and pointed.

שם, על שולחן קטן, ישבה חנוכייה מעוטרת, כשעליה מודלקים 9 נרות.

There, on a small table, sat an ornate menorah with nine candles lit.

היה זה נר נוסף מעבר לערב חנוכייה השישי.

It was an extra candle beyond the sixth night of Hanukkah.

"זה כל כך יפה," אמרה נֹעה בפליאה, "אבל איך זה קרה?"

"It's so beautiful," Noa said in awe, "but how did it happen?"

על הקיר, רעוע ותלוי, היה צילום של משפחה מגוננת בחום; השטח היה עטוף היסטוריה והרגשה טובה.

On the wall, tattered and hanging, was a photograph of a family warmly protective; the space was enveloped in history and a positive feeling.

Noa, with less fear, was proud that she managed to stand by Avi's curiosity.

עתה כל ערב, מביטים שניהם מהרחוב בחנוכה, כשהאור בבית הנטוש ממשיך להבהיק, זכר לאהבה שבעבר.

Now every evening, both of them watch from the street during Hanukkah, as the light in the abandoned house continues to glow, a reminder of past love.

המסתורין סוף סוף נפתר, אבל הגעגועים אל רוח המורשת רק התעצמו.

The mystery was finally solved, but the longing for the spirit of heritage only intensified.
