  • Sunce je nježno milovalo prozore male pržionice kave u Zagrebu.

The sun gently caressed the windows of the small coffee roastery in Zagreb.

Inside, the air was filled with the warm aroma of freshly ground beans, and the soft chatter of clients muffled the quiet sound of the coffee grinder.

Ivana and Luka sat at a wooden table in the corner, each with a cup of coffee before them.

"Ivana, do you know that Ethiopian coffee is known for its floral notes?"

  • " upita Luka samouvjereno, lagano nagnuvši glavu.

Luka asked confidently, tilting his head slightly.

Ivana smiled, lifting her cup to release the aroma.

  • "Naravno, ali ja sam uvijek preferirala sirijske sorte.

"Of course, but I've always preferred Syrian varieties.

  • Njihova orašasta aroma je neusporediva.

    Their nutty flavor is incomparable."

  • "Zapravo, ni Luka ni Ivana nisu primijetili da im je konobar slučajno poslužio bez kofeina francuski prženje.

In fact, neither Luka nor Ivana noticed that the waiter had accidentally served them decaffeinated French roast.

  • Ipak, njihova se rasprava nastavila.

    Still, their discussion continued.

Luka, who researched new varieties daily, felt something was amiss.

"Well, do you happen to know which region gives the best chocolate aroma?"

  • " izazvao je Ivanu s podsmijehom.

he challenged Ivana with a smirk.

Ivana pondered for a moment but decided to hold her ground.

"Hmm, I'm sure that's a notable feature of Hawaiian coffee," she replied, uncertainly.

Luka noticed her confusion but didn't want to attack immediately.

  • Umjesto toga, nastavio je: "Oh, možda ti imaš pravo.

Instead, he continued: "Oh, maybe you're right.

But what would you say about the earthy taste of Peruvian coffee?"

  • "Njihova igra nadmudrivanja dosegnula je vrhunac upravo kad je barista, s razigranim osmijehom, prišao njihovom stolu.

Their game of outsmarting each other reached its peak just as the barista, with a playful smile, approached their table.

"Excuse me, but your coffee is decaf," he said, enjoying their surprise.

  • Ivana i Luka se pogledaju, zatim se nasmiju.

Ivana and Luka looked at each other, then laughed.

"Well, it seems we've both fallen for the same trick.

All these debates without real substance," admitted Luka, still laughing.

  • "Možda bismo trebali više uživati u kavi nego u hvalisanju.

"Maybe we should enjoy the coffee more than bragging."

  • "Ivana kimne glavom, sada opuštena.

    Ivana nodded, now relaxed.

"You know, sometimes coffee is just coffee," she said, sighing.

  • Njihovo rivalstvo je nestalo, a umjesto toga je došao osjećaj zajedništva.

Their rivalry vanished, replaced by a sense of camaraderie.

  • Dok su nastavili razgovor, atmosfera pržionice činila im se toplijom, a proljetno sunce kroz prozore još više.

As they continued their conversation, the atmosphere of the roastery felt warmer, and the spring sun through the windows even more so.

Both realized the importance of the moment and stopped trying to impress one another.

In the quiet Zagreb café, Ivana and Luka learned an important lesson: the best flavors come from simple enjoyment, without pretentiousness.

  • I uz to novo znanje, njihovo prijateljstvo dobilo je novi sjaj.

And with that new knowledge, their friendship gained a new luster.
