冬の夜、静かな海岸に月明かりが降り注ぐ。波は穏やかに砂浜を打ち、松の木々は冷たい風にそよいでいる。

On a winter's night, moonlight poured over the quiet kaigan, the waves gently lapping at the sandy shore as the matsu no ki swayed in the cold wind.

砂浜には少人数のグループが集まり、焚き火を囲んでいる。

A small group gathered on the beach, huddling around a bonfire.

火の暖かさが、冬の冷えを和らげている。

The warmth of the fire eased the winter's chill.

悟は、焚き火を見つめていた。

Satoru was gazing at the bonfire.

彼は数日前に職を失い、何かを探してここにいた。

He had lost his job a few days ago and had come here searching for something.

友人の恵美が、「少し気分が変わるかもしれないよ」と誘ってくれたのだ。

悟は微笑んで、久しぶりに会う昔の知り合い、はるきの顔を探した。

Satoru smiled and searched for the face of an old acquaintance he had not seen in a while, Haruki.

はるきは輝かしいキャリアを持っていて、悟は心の中で少し緊張していた。

Haruki had a brilliant career, and Satoru felt a little nervous in his heart.

「悟、久しぶりだね」とはるきが声をかけてきた。

"Satoru, it's been a while," Haruki greeted him.

「最近少し悩んでいてさ、面白いもんじゃないよ。」

はるきはしばらく黙っていたが、やがて口を開いた。

「実は僕も、一度大きな失敗をしたことがあるんだ。
