During the time when the sun was smiling over the banks of the Daugava River, Aija went to Riga Central Market.

She had a shopping list and was enthusiastic about preparing the upcoming spring salads.

  • Ierodoties tirgū, Aija sajuta visdažādāko smaržu maisījumu - svaigus dārzeņus, ziedus un vietējos lauku labumus.

Arriving at the market, Aija felt a mixture of various scents - fresh vegetables, flowers, and local country goodies.

  • Viņa apstaigāja daudzus tirgus stendus, meklējot vislabākos produktus.

She walked around many market stalls, looking for the best products.

  • Viņas sarakstā bija arī cukini – tieši to viņa devās meklēt.

Zucchini was also on her list - that's exactly what she went to look for.

  • Aija piegāja pie viena no stendiem, kur pārdevējs Jānis kārtīgi sakārtojis savu preču klāstu.

Aija approached one of the stalls where the seller Jānis had neatly arranged his range of goods.

  • Acis pieķēra dažādas krāsas un formas dārzeņi.

Her eyes caught various colors and shapes of vegetables.

Looking at the sea of green, Aija chose a long, green vegetable and turned to Jānis.

  • "Paldies, Jāni, šis cukini izskatās lieliski!

"Thank you, Jānis, this zucchini looks great!"

  • " teica Aija, lielā priekā par atradumu.

said Aija, excited about her find.

Jānis raised his eyebrows and smilingly replied, "Sorry, Aija, but that's not zucchini, it's a cucumber!"

Aija turned as red as a tomato and burst out laughing, "Is it a cucumber?

  • Ak, es patiešām nevaru atšķirt dārzeņus!

Oh, I really can't distinguish vegetables!"

  • "Abi sāka smieties par šo neveiklo situāciju.

Both started laughing at this awkward situation.

Jānis with a smile pointed out to Aija where the real zucchinis were and happily told her more about each vegetable, so that next time Aija wouldn't have any doubts.

"Recognize zucchini by its dark green color and firm texture," said Jānis and handed her an ideal specimen.

Gratefully, Aija bought not only zucchinis, but also other fresh vegetables.

Jānis was happy to have a new friend, and Aija - about new knowledge and a story to tell at the family dinner table.

And so, with a full basket, Aija went home to prepare salads, knowing that shopping at the Central Market today was not only delicious, but also fun.
