  • Karstais Rīgas vasaras rīts.

A hot summer morning in Riga.

  • Mākoņi šļakstās debesīs, un saule lēj savas zeltainās gaismas pār Vecpilsētas jumtiem.

Clouds splashed across the sky, and the sun poured its golden light over the rooftops of the Old Town.

  • Kaimiņos, rožu dārzos un mazos pagalmos, iedzīvotāji gatavojās nākamajam mācību gadam.

In the neighboring areas, rose gardens, and small courtyards, residents were preparing for the upcoming school year.

  • Kārlis, Elīza un Māris sēdēja parkā uz soliņa.

Karlis, Eliza, and Maris sat on a park bench.

  • Kārlis bija pārdomās. Viņa skatiens bija pievērsts tālumā.

Karlis was deep in thought, his gaze fixed on the distance.

  • "Es gribu studēt ārzemēs," viņš beidzot sacīja.

"I want to study abroad," he finally said.

  • "Bet es nezinu, vai es varu."

    "But I don't know if I can."

  • Elīza pasmaidīja, bet viņas acīs bija redzamas šaubas.

Eliza smiled, but doubt was visible in her eyes.

  • "Tev viss izdosies, Kārlīt," viņa teica.

"You will succeed, Karlis," she said.

  • "Bet... vai tu mums pietrūksi?"

    "But... will you miss us?"

  • Māris, kurš tikko sācis dzīvot šajā apkārtnē, izskatījās nesaprotami.

Maris, who had just started living in the neighborhood, looked confused.

  • "Studēt ārzemēs ir lieliska iespēja," viņš teica klusi.

"Studying abroad is a great opportunity," he said quietly.

  • "Bet arī grūti."

    "But also difficult."

  • Parka malā bija mājas ar ziediem pie logiem un saldējuma kiosks, kur bērni pirka saldējumu.

At the park's edge, there were houses with flowers at the windows and an ice cream kiosk where children bought ice cream.

  • Mākoņi lēnām pārvietojās pie debesīm.

Clouds slowly drifted across the sky.

  • Kārlis zināja, ka viņam ir pieņemama lēmuma.

Karlis knew he had to make a decision.

  • Viņš nolēma piedalīties esejas konkursā, kas varētu viņam dot stipendiju.

He decided to participate in an essay contest that could earn him a scholarship.

  • "Es darīšu to," viņš sacīja.

"I will do it," he said.

  • "Bet man būs jācīnās.

"But I will have to fight.

  • Tas būs mans pēdējais vasarā ar jums."

This will be my last summer with you."

  • Elīza pielika roku uz viņa pleca.

Eliza put a hand on his shoulder.

  • "Mēs ticam tev," viņa teica.

"We believe in you," she said.

  • "Un mēs būsim šeit, kad tev vajadzēs atelpu."

"And we will be here when you need a break."

  • Māris pamāja ar galvu.

    Maris nodded.

  • "Te būs vieta, kur tu vienmēr tiksi sagaidīts," viņš sacīja.

"There will always be a place here for you," he said.

  • Dienas aizritēja kā vējš.

The days flew by like the wind.

  • Kārlis rakstīja un pārrakstīja savu eseju.

Karlis wrote and rewrote his essay.

  • Viņam trūka miega, bet viņš turpināja.

He lacked sleep, but he kept going.

  • Elīza un Māris bieži apciemoja viņu, atvedot uzmundrinošus vārdus un iemīļotus uzkodas.

Eliza and Maris often visited him, bringing encouraging words and favorite snacks.

  • Pienāca diena, kad tika paziņoti konkursa rezultāti.

The day came when the contest results were announced.

  • Visi apkārtējie satikās skolas lielajā zālē, kur bija izlikti rezultāti.

Everyone gathered in the school's main hall, where the results were posted.

  • Kārlis lasīja savu vārdu uzvarētāju sarakstā.

Karlis read his name on the list of winners.

  • Uzvaras sajūta bija milzīga.

The feeling of victory was immense.

  • "Man ir!" viņš iesaucās un apskāva Elīzu.

"I did it!" he exclaimed and hugged Eliza.

  • Bet viņa sirds bija smaga.

    But his heart was heavy.

  • Viņam būtu jāatstāj mājas, draugi, ģimene.

He would have to leave home, friends, family.

  • Staigājot pa pazīstamajām ielām ar Elīzu un Māri, Kārlis saprata, ka mīlestība pret šīm vietām un cilvēkiem paliks viņā.

Walking through the familiar streets with Eliza and Maris, Karlis realized that his love for these places and people would stay with him.

  • "Es atgriezīšos," viņš sacīja.

    "I will return," he said.

  • "Un mēs tevi gaidīsim," Elīza atbildēja.

"And we will be waiting for you," Eliza replied.

  • Bijis grūti, bet Kārlis saprata, ka viņš var līdzsvarot savas kandidatūras ar dārgām attiecībām.

It was difficult, but Karlis understood that he could balance his ambitions with cherished relationships.

  • Un viņš nolēma, ka viņa sirds vienmēr būs šeit, šajā krāsainajā ielā ar draugiem, kas viņu atbalsta.

And he decided that his heart would always remain here, on this colorful street with friends who support him.
