  • En dag sprang sola opp over Oslo's hustak.

One day, the sun rose over the rooftops of Oslo.

Lars was ready for what he thought would be a fun day.

  • Lite visste han at skjebnen hadde andre planer for ham.

Little did he know that fate had other plans for him.

  • Lars var forelsket i Ingrid.

Lars was in love with Ingrid.

  • Når hun smilte, lyste hele veden opp for ham.

When she smiled, his whole world lit up.

But there was one problem: Ingrid loved cross-country skiing.

And today, she had been invited to a friendly cross-country race with many friends, including Magnus.

  • Planene til Lars var klare.

    Lars had a plan.

  • Han skulle overraske Ingrid.

He was going to surprise Ingrid.

He was going to learn how to ski overnight to impress her in the race.

His motivation was strong, but Lars forgot one thing: he had never been on skis in his entire life!

The day of the race arrived, and Magnus laughed heartily when he saw Lars in his cross-country gear.

  • "Hva har du tenkt, Lars?"

    "What are you thinking, Lars?"

he joked, but Lars just gave him a determined look.

They started the race at the top of a steep hill.

Lars looked around at all the experienced skiers around him, including Ingrid.

  • "Er du klar?"

    "Are you ready?"

  • spurte hun, og smilte mot ham.

    she asked, smiling at him.

  • Lars svarte med et smil, selvsikker.

Lars replied with a smile, feeling confident.

  • Men da startskuddet gikk, begynte problemene.

But as the starting shot went off, the problems began.

Lars' feet refused to cooperate with the skis.

Everyone else zoomed past him, and when Ingrid turned around to look for him, she saw him with his feet on the skis, arms and legs everywhere.

Magnus laughed until tears rolled down his cheeks, but Ingrid didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

She stopped and went back to help Lars, but he insisted on trying again.

Finally, after many falls, Lars crossed the finish line – last, but he made it.

He was covered in bruises, but he was smiling.

  • "Morsomt, ikke sant?"

    "Wasn't that fun?"

  • sa han, pustende og pesende.

    he said, gasping for breath.

  • Ingrid lo av hele scenen.

Ingrid laughed at the whole scene.

  • "Du er modig, Lars," sa hun.

    "You're brave, Lars," she said.

And in her eyes, he could see that she meant it.

Even though the day didn't go as Lars had hoped, he discovered something important: it wasn't his skiing skills that impressed Ingrid, but his determination.

And even though Magnus continued to laugh, Lars knew he had won something far more valuable than a cross-country race – Ingrid's respect and admiration.
