Lost in Bergen: A Labyrinth of Surprises
"Din data, ingen fare!
"Your data, no danger!"
" sang Lars ut mens han og Ingrid hoppet av toget ved Bergen stasjon.
Lars sang out as he and Ingrid got off the train at Bergen station.
The nice thing about having a smartphone, he thought, was that they never had to feel lost.
Men det varte ikke lenge.
But it didn't last long.
Bergen was a city full of streets and alleys.
Det føltes som en labyrint.
It felt like a labyrinth.
A tangle they couldn't figure out.
GPSen funket ikke.
The GPS didn't work.
The map on the phone looked like a spaghetti chaos.
"Hvor er vi hen?
"Where are we going?"
" spurte Ingrid.
Ingrid asked.
Lars måtte bare riste på hodet.
Lars could only shake his head.
Plutselig så de en jente.
Suddenly they saw a girl.
Hun het Sofia.
Her name was Sofia.
"Kan du hjelpe oss?
"Can you help us?"
" spurte Lars.
Lars asked.
Sofia lo litt.
Sofia laughed a little.
"Klart," sa hun.
"Of course," she said.
But what she did next was not nice.
Sofia sendte Lars og Ingrid gjennom hele Bergen.
Sofia sent Lars and Ingrid through the whole of Bergen.
Hun sa at vegen gikk oppover Fløyen.
She said the road went up towards Fløyen.
Så høyre mot Akvariet.
Then turn right towards the Aquarium.
Så ned til Fisketorget.
Then down to the Fish Market.
Så rett frem til Bryggen.
Then straight ahead to Bryggen.
Lars and Ingrid followed Sofia's way, but they couldn't find the way.
De ble bare mer tapt.
They just became more lost.
Lars og Ingrid var nå veldig slitne.
Lars and Ingrid were now very tired.
De tenkte at de skulle gi opp.
They thought they should give up.
But then, just as they were about to turn around, Lars saw something.
Et skilt.
A sign.
Det pekte mot stasjonen.
It pointed towards the station.
"Se!
"Look!"
" sa han.
he said.
"Vi er her!
"We are here!"
" Ingrid ble glad.
Ingrid became happy.
De fant veien selv.
They found the way themselves.
Sofia's funny way turned out to be wrong.
But Lars and Ingrid found out that they could manage on their own.
De trengte ikke Sofia.
They didn't need Sofia.
De trengte ikke kartet heller.
They didn't need the map either.
De fant veien selv.
They found the way themselves.
Fra den dagen husket de alltid dette.
From that day on, they always remembered this.
De husket eventyret de hadde hatt i Bergen.
They remembered the adventure they had in Bergen.
And they laughed every time they remembered Sofia's misleading way.
