Ah, there was frost on the window and snow on the ground.

  • Vinden hvisket i tretoppene.

The wind whispered in the treetops.

It was winter in the cozy Norwegian mountains, a beautiful day full of possibilities.

In a small cabin, Ingrid and Lars sat.

  • Ingrid så ut av vinduet og smilte.

Ingrid looked out the window and smiled.

  • "Hva med litt moro, Lars?

    "How about some fun, Lars?"

  • " spurte hun.

    she asked.

Lars, sitting by the fireplace, turned to her and asked, "What do you mean?"

  • ""La oss prøve oss på noen norske tungevridere!

"Let's try some Norwegian tongue twisters!"

  • " foreslo Ingrid med et lekent smil.

    Ingrid suggested playfully.

  • Lars lo.

    Lars laughed.

  • "Ok," sa han, "det høres gøy ut!

"Okay," he said, "that sounds fun!"

  • "Ingrid startet først.

    Ingrid started first.

  • "Fiskerens kiste," sa hun, og munnen hennes formet ordene nøye.

"The fisherman's chest," she said, carefully shaping the words with her mouth.

  • "Sist i fiskekista, frisk fisk," gjentok hun raskere.

"Last in the fish chest, fresh fish," she repeated faster.

  • Det var vanskelig.

    It was difficult.

  • Hun lo og ropte "Din tur, Lars!

She laughed and exclaimed, "Your turn, Lars!"

  • "Lars prøvde også.

    Lars tried as well.

  • "Ti tette tønner," begynte han.

    "Ten tight barrels," he began.

"Ten tight barrels tightly together," it sizzled from Lars.

  • Han lo høyt.

    He laughed loudly.

  • "Dette er vanskelig!

    "This is difficult!"

  • " deklamerte han.

    he proclaimed.

They tried several tongue twisters, laughing more and more each time they stumbled over the words.

  • Snart ble det en konkurranse.

Soon, it turned into a competition.

  • Hvem kunne si flest tungevridere uten å feile?

Who could say the most tongue twisters without making a mistake?

  • Tungevridningen fortsatte inn i natten.

The tongue twisters continued into the night.

Outside, the moon was high and the wind grew stronger.

Inside, next to the crackling fire, Ingrid and Lars giggled as they twisted their words.

  • Til sist klarte Lars å si "Smiskesmasket rismelgrøt" uten å snuble.

Finally, Lars managed to say "Smooth mashed rice porridge" without stumbling.

  • Han hoppet opp og jublet.

    He jumped up and jubilated.

  • "Jeg vant!

    "I won!"

  • " ropte han mens han danset rundt i hytta.

he shouted as he danced around the cabin.

  • Ingrid lo og klappte.

    Ingrid laughed and applauded.

The day was filled with laughter and friendly competition.

They had learned that even the most difficult tasks could be fun when done together.

And although the night was cold outside, it was warm and cozy inside the little cabin in the mountains.

  • Ingen ville egentlig bytte ut denne tiden med noe.

Neither of them would really trade this time for anything.

For Ingrid and Lars, it was the perfect day.
