Early one morning, Oslo woke up to a mysterious piece of news.

In Vigeland Park, right in the heart of the city, something was very, very wrong.

The famous Monolith, a column fully carved with human figures, was gone.

  • Bare en tom sokkel sto igjen.

    Only an empty pedestal remained.

  • Astrid, Lars, og Sindre var tre venner.

Astrid, Lars, and Sindre were three friends.

  • De likte å gå tur i parken hver lørdag.

They enjoyed taking walks in the park every Saturday.

  • Denne lørdagen skulle bli annerledes.

This Saturday was going to be different.

  • Først merket de det ikke.

At first, they didn't notice it.

  • De snakket og lo, som vanlig.

They talked and laughed, as usual.

But when they came to the Monolith's spot, they stopped.

  • De så på hverandre i sjokk.

They looked at each other in shock.

  • "Hvor er den?"

    "Where is it?"

  • spurte Astrid.

    asked Astrid.

"No one knows," replied a man standing next to the pedestal.

  • "Den forsvant i natt.

    "It disappeared overnight.

  • Det er bare denne lappen igjen."

This note is all that's left."

  • Han holdt opp en liten, hvit papirlapp.

He held up a small, white piece of paper.

  • Lars tok lappen og leste høyt.

Lars took the note and read aloud.

"Only the wise will find the way to the light," it said.

  • "Det gir ikke mening," mumlet Sindre.

"That doesn't make sense," mumbled Sindre.

  • "Hva skal vi gjøre nå?"

    "What should we do now?"

  • Astrid tenkte et øyeblikk.

    Astrid thought for a moment.

  • "Kanskje vi kan finne ut av det.

"Maybe we can figure it out.

  • La oss se rundt i parken."

    Let's look around the park."

  • Vennene begynte å lete.

    The friends began searching.

They walked through the sculptures and trees, looking for clues.

They remembered all the details of the park: fountains, bridges, and paths.

  • Ingenting virket unormalt.

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

  • Så, ved fontenen, så de noe.

Then, by the fountain, they saw something.

  • En liten glødende stein lå på bakken.

A small glowing stone lay on the ground.

  • Astrid løftet den forsiktig.

    Astrid picked it up carefully.

  • "Se her," sa hun.

    "Look here," she said.

  • "Den er varm."

    "It's warm."

Sindre noticed something strange near a pedestal nearby.

  • "Det er noe her," sa han.

    "There's something here," he said.

  • Han pekte på en liten sprekk.

He pointed to a small crack.

  • Lars stakk hånden inn.

    Lars reached in.

  • Han trakk ut en nøkkel.

    He pulled out a key.

  • "Kanskje denne fører oss til Monolitten," sa Lars.

"Maybe this will lead us to the Monolith," Lars said.

They followed the key to an old gate near the park's exit.

  • Porten knirket da de åpnet den.

The gate creaked as they opened it.

  • Inne var en mørk tunnel.

    Inside was a dark tunnel.

  • De gikk forsiktig inn.

    They walked in cautiously.

  • Til slutten av tunnelen lyste det svakt.

At the end of the tunnel, it glowed faintly.

There, in a hidden room, stood the Monolith, large and majestic as ever.

  • Ved sin base var en ny lapp.

At its base was a new note.

  • "Takk for at dere fant meg," sto det.

"Thank you for finding me," it read.

  • "Kun sanne venner kan oppdage skjulte skatter."

"Only true friends can discover hidden treasures."

  • Astrid, Lars, og Sindre smilte.

    Astrid, Lars, and Sindre smiled.

  • De hadde løst mysteriet sammen.

They had solved the mystery together.

The Monolith was home again, and they felt like heroes.

They returned to the park with a sense of peace.

  • Monolitten ble reist opp på sokkelen igjen.

The Monolith was once again erected on its pedestal.

  • Denne lørdagsmorgenen i Vigelandsparken skulle aldri bli glemt.

This Saturday morning in Vigeland Park would never be forgotten.
