Exploring the Geirangerfjord: A Class Trip to Nature's Wonders
Solen skinte lyst over Geirangerfjorden.
The sun shone brightly over the Geirangerfjord.
The fjord lay like a blue pearl between the steep mountains.
Åse, Lars og Sigrid var begeistret.
Åse, Lars, and Sigrid were excited.
They were on a class trip to study the fjord's ecosystem.
Nede ved vannkanten samlet læreren alle sammen.
Down by the water's edge, the teacher gathered everyone together.
"Vi skal lære om fiskene, plantene og vannet," sa hun.
"We will learn about the fish, plants, and the water," she said.
Åse, Lars og Sigrid fikk mikroskoper og notatbøker.
Åse, Lars, and Sigrid received microscopes and notebooks.
De skulle undersøke alt de fant.
They were to investigate everything they found.
Åse var fascinert av vannets farge.
Åse was fascinated by the color of the water.
"Hvorfor er det så blått her?"
"Why is it so blue here?"
spurte hun.
she asked.
"Det er på grunn av isbreene," forklarte læreren.
"It's because of the glaciers," the teacher explained.
"Smeltevannet fra isbreene gir fjorden denne spesielle fargen."
"The meltwater from the glaciers gives the fjord this special color."
Lars dykket ned i vannet.
Lars dived into the water.
Han fant en fisk med fargerike skjell.
He found a fish with colorful scales.
"Se her!"
"Look here!"
ropte han.
he shouted.
"Hva slags fisk er dette?"
"What kind of fish is this?"
Læreren forklarte at det var en Lyr.
The teacher explained that it was a Pollock.
"Den lever ofte i slike farvann," sa hun.
"It often lives in such waters," she said.
Sigrid gikk langs stranden.
Sigrid walked along the shore.
Hun kikket nøye på alle plantene.
She carefully examined all the plants.
Plutselig ropte hun, "Hva er dette?"
Suddenly she shouted, "What is this?"
She pointed to a green plant growing halfway underwater.
"Det er tang," svarte læreren.
"That's seaweed," the teacher replied.
"Tang er viktig for mange sjødyr."
"Seaweed is important for many marine animals."
After lunch, Åse sat on a rock.
Hun så utover fjorden.
She looked out over the fjord.
"Vi har lært så mye i dag," sa hun.
"We have learned so much today," she said.
"Ja," svarte Lars.
"Yes," replied Lars.
"Det er fantastisk hvordan alt henger sammen her."
"It's amazing how everything is connected here."
Sigrid nikket.
Sigrid nodded.
"Jeg visste ikke at naturen var så komplisert," sa hun.
"I didn't know nature was so complex," she said.
As the day came to an end, the class gathered again.
Læreren sa, "Fjorden er et spesielt sted.
The teacher said, "The fjord is a special place.
Det er opp til oss å ta vare på det."
It's up to us to take care of it."
Åse, Lars og Sigrid følte seg enige.
Åse, Lars, and Sigrid felt they agreed.
On the bus ride home, Åse thought about all the beautiful things they had seen.
"Vi må fortelle alle om dette," sa hun til Lars og Sigrid.
"We have to tell everyone about this," she said to Lars and Sigrid.
Lars smiled, "Yes, maybe we can help protect nature."
Sigrid la hånden på Åses skulder.
Sigrid placed her hand on Åse's shoulder.
"Det var en flott dag," sa hun.
"It was a great day," she said.
De nikket alle sammen.
They all nodded.
They now knew that the Geirangerfjord was a unique place.
They would all do their best to preserve it.
They felt that they had been given an important task.
Og sammen skulle de klare det.
And together, they would succeed.
