  • Solen skinte sterkt ned over den grønne dalen.

The sun shone brightly down over the green valley.

  • Blomster blomstret, og fuglene sang ivrig.

Flowers bloomed, and the birds sang eagerly.

On an old farm in the center of the valley lived Eirik.

Eirik was a young farmer with a big heart and even bigger dreams.

But he had always struggled to gain his father's approval.

  • Bjørn, faren hans, var en tradisjonell mann.

Bjørn, his father, was a traditional man.

He believed in the old ways of doing things.

  • Denne sommeren kom Midsommer, og Eirik ønsket å gjøre festivalen spesiell.

This summer brought Midsummer, and Eirik wanted to make the festival special.

Not just for the community, but also to earn his father's respect.

Therefore, Eirik set out to gather festival supplies, knowing it would be tough.

Eirik stood by the farm and looked out over the land.

  • Han trakk pusten dypt og startet traktoren.

He took a deep breath and started the tractor.

His goal was to find the best supplies.

He knew it would be a challenge.

  • Forsyningene var knappe, og prisene høye.

Supplies were scarce, and prices were high.

The first stop was a small village a few kilometers away.

  • Eirik gikk inn i markedet.

    Eirik walked into the market.

He looked around, but there was little to find.

  • "Har du noe spesielt til Midsommer?"

"Do you have anything special for Midsummer?"

  • spurte Eirik.

    Eirik asked.

An older lady behind the counter smiled but shook her head.

  • Eirik kunne kjenne tvilen snike seg inn.

Eirik could feel doubt creeping in.

Was he capable of doing this?

  • Han visste hva faren ville si.

He knew what his father would say.

"If you can’t do it right, don’t do it at all."

  • Men Eirik ga ikke opp.

    But Eirik didn’t give up.

He decided to go farther than usual.

  • Han reiste til en større by.

He traveled to a larger town.

  • Her fant han mye mer, men prisene var skremmende.

Here, he found much more, but the prices were daunting.

He found a beautiful flower wreath, perfect for decorating the main table.

  • Men det kostet nesten hele budsjettet hans.

But it cost almost his entire budget.

  • Eirik sto med blomsterkransen i hånden.

Eirik stood with the flower wreath in hand.

Should he buy the expensive wreath and risk the rest of the budget?

Or should he stick to cheaper, less impressive items?

  • Han bestemte seg.

    He made his decision.

  • Han kjøpte kransen.

    He bought the wreath.

He knew it was a big risk, but he believed it was worth it.

  • Tilbake på gården jobbet Eirik hardt.

Back on the farm, Eirik worked hard.

He arranged the decorations, prepared food, and got ready for the festival.

  • Dagen kom, og Eirik så seg rundt.

The day came, and Eirik looked around.

  • Han hadde gjort sitt beste.

    He had done his best.

People started to arrive, and the atmosphere was good.

As the festival reached its peak, Eirik nervously looked for his father.

  • Bjørn kom til midtpunktet, hvor blomsterkransen lå.

Bjørn came to the centerpiece, where the flower wreath lay.

  • Bjørn skrittet sakte rundt dekoren.

    Bjørn slowly circled the decorations.

He picked up one of the roses, studied it, and put it back.

  • Bjørn nikket sakte mot Eirik.

    Bjørn slowly nodded at Eirik.

Not a word was spoken, but in that simple nod lay everything Eirik needed to hear.

  • Det var en godkjenning.

    It was an approval.

  • Festivalen ble en suksess.

    The festival was a success.

People came from nearby villages and praised the event.

Eirik felt a warm sense of pride and, for the first time, confidence.

Eirik realized that he didn’t need constant approval to value his own work.

He learned that a balance between tradition and new ideas could create something beautiful.

The sun had begun to set, and the last guest had left.

Bjørn walked slowly to Eirik and patted him on the shoulder.

  • "Godt gjort, Eirik," sa han stille.

"Well done, Eirik," he said quietly.

And so, in the warm summer air, Eirik knew that he had not only won a festival but also his own belief in himself.
