  • Det var en lys sommerdag i Bergen.

It was a bright summer day in Bergen.

The sun was shining, and the harbor was full of life.

Colorful wooden houses lit up the waterfront, and the smell of the sea filled the air.

Lars stood on the pier watching the boats.

He was a fisherman, and life on the sea was his daily routine.

But he often thought about Ingrid, his girlfriend in Oslo.

She studied marine biology and was always busy with school.

  • Lars følte seg ofte ensom.

    Lars often felt lonely.

He worked long days, and the nights were quiet without Ingrid by his side.

  • Men de snakket hver kveld på telefonen.

But they talked every evening on the phone.

He sent long letters to her by boat, but it was not always enough.

"Ingrid," he said to himself, "I miss you."

  • Hans venn Sigrid jobbet som postarbeider.

His friend Sigrid worked as a postal worker.

She was a reliable friend and often listened to Lars' worries.

  • Men Sigrid hadde sine egne følelser.

But Sigrid had her own feelings.

  • Hun hadde elsket Lars i lang tid, men hadde aldri sagt noe.

She had loved Lars for a long time but had never said anything.

"Lars," Sigrid said one day, "maybe you should visit Ingrid in Oslo."

  • Lars nikket.

    Lars nodded.

  • "Ja, kanskje det er på tide."

    "Yes, maybe it's time."

  • Han bestemte seg for å dra.

    He decided to go.

The journey to Oslo was long, but he was determined.

When he arrived, Ingrid was not home.

  • Han ventet utenfor leiligheten hennes.

    He waited outside her apartment.

  • Og ventet.

    And waited.

Finally, he saw Ingrid coming with another man.

  • Lars følte hjertet synke.

    Lars felt his heart sink.

  • Han sa ingenting, bare gikk bort.

He said nothing, just walked away.

  • "Hei," sa Ingrid da hun så ham.

"Hi," Ingrid said when she saw him.

  • "Hva gjør du her?"

    "What are you doing here?"

  • "Jeg kom for å se deg," sa Lars stille.

"I came to see you," Lars said quietly.

  • "Hvem er han?"

    "Who is he?"

Ingrid looked at the man and then back at Lars.

  • "Vi må snakke," sa hun.

"We need to talk," she said.

  • Det var en smertefull samtale.

    It was a painful conversation.

Ingrid explained that she and Lars had grown apart.

  • Avstand, slit, og nye mennesker.

    Distance, fatigue, and new people.

  • Lars forsto, men det gjorde vondt.

    Lars understood, but it hurt.

  • Lars reiste tilbake til Bergen.

    Lars traveled back to Bergen.

He was broken, not sure what to do.

  • Men Sigrid var der.

    But Sigrid was there.

She listened, comforted, and slowly helped him back on his feet.

One evening, as they sat together on the pier, Sigrid said quietly, "Lars, I have to tell you something.

  • Jeg har følelser for deg."

    I have feelings for you."

  • Lars så på Sigrid.

    Lars looked at Sigrid.

There was honesty and hope in her eyes.

He did not know what to say, but he felt something change inside him.

  • Kanskje det var tid for noe nytt.

Maybe it was time for something new.

As the days went by, Lars began to see Sigrid as more than just a friend.

He allowed himself to be open to new possibilities.

Together they explored the summer in Bergen, found joy in small moments, and Lars began to look forward.

  • Lars hadde mistet noe dyrebart, men hadde funnet noe annet, noe kanskje enda mer verdifullt.

Lars had lost something precious, but had found something else, perhaps even more valuable.

A new beginning, with a friend who had been there all along.

Life at the harbor continued, but now with a new light on the horizon.
