Leap of Courage: Lars Conquers Holmenkollen's Heights
Snøen lå som et mykt teppe over Holmenkollen.
The snow lay like a soft blanket over Holmenkollen.
It was a clear winter day, perfect for ski jumping competition.
Lars, Ingrid, and Johan stood together with the crowd, well-dressed in warm jackets and scarves.
The Christmas tree at the entrance glittered with lights, and the air was filled with the scent of hot cocoa.
Lars sto litt for seg selv, tankene hans svirret.
Lars stood a bit apart, his thoughts swirling.
Han hadde alltid beundret søsteren Ingrid.
He had always admired his sister Ingrid.
She was good at everything she tried, from school to sports.
Lars ønsket å bevise noe.
Lars wanted to prove something.
Not just for the family, but also for himself.
Han stirret opp på den monumentale hoppbakken.
He stared up at the monumental ski jump.
Soon he would be standing up there, high above everyone’s heads.
"Ingrid, I’m nervous," Lars whispered quietly, as the two siblings watched the first jumpers take off.
"It will be fine, Lars," replied Ingrid with an encouraging smile.
"Remember what we always say: Do your best, and forget the rest."
"Men det var lettere sagt enn gjort.
But that was easier said than done.
Lars felt the wind tugging at him, cold and unpredictable.
Maybe he should jump in the safer way he had practiced before?
Or should he really dare the new, bold jump?
As the time approached, his head filled with thoughts about what could go wrong.
Men han visste, dypt inne, at han måtte gripe sjansen.
But he knew, deep inside, that he had to seize the opportunity.
Brått hørte han navnet sitt bli ropt opp over høyttaleranlegget.
Suddenly he heard his name being called over the loudspeaker system.
Det var hans tur.
It was his turn.
Lars tok et dypt pust.
Lars took a deep breath.
He grinned at Ingrid who cheered along with Johan and the rest of the crowd.
He grabbed his skis and began to walk towards the top of the hill.
The repetitions of the new jump flickered past his eyes as he prepared himself.
At the top of the jump, Lars took one last look down.
Det så så høyt ut.
It looked so high.
Men det var ingen vei tilbake nå.
But there was no turning back now.
He pushed off and felt the familiar rush of adrenaline as he soared into the air.
Kroppen hans beveget seg akkurat slik han hadde øvd, alle bevegelser perfekt i sync.
His body moved just as he had practiced, every movement perfectly in sync.
Far below, the cheering crowd grew louder as they watched Lars’s spectacular jump.
He landed rock solid, and a wave of relief washed over him.
Hele Holmenkollen eksploderte i applaus.
The whole of Holmenkollen exploded in applause.
Through the haze of emotions, he could see Ingrid and Johan.
De vinket og smilte, stolte og glade.
They waved and smiled, proud and joyful.
When Lars rejoined his family, he felt a new sense of confidence.
Han hadde gjort det.
He had done it.
Not just to prove something, but because he had found the courage within himself.
The snow continued to fall, and a Christmas tree glittered behind them in the twilight.
With a smile, Lars knew he would never again feel overshadowed by others.
Mørket senket seg sakte over Holmenkollen mens familien tok veien hjem, hånd i hånd, med den store prestasjonen i friskt minne.
Darkness slowly descended over Holmenkollen as the family made their way home, hand in hand, with the great achievement fresh in their memory.
