The snow lay heavily on the windowsills outside the bright school's auditorium.

  • Inne i salen var det hektisk aktivitet.

Inside the hall, there was hectic activity.

The annual winter performance was approaching, and students from the local middle school had gathered for rehearsal.

The room mildly smelled of cocoa from the café next door.

Kari raised her hand carefully to adjust the stage curtain, and she sighed a little as she looked out over the stage.

She was skilled and dutiful, but there was one thing she feared more than anything else: performing in front of others.

Kari had always dreamed of being on stage.

She admired actors for their passion and confidence, and deeply wished to be like them.

But the thought of having to perform in front of so many people made her nervous.

  • Hver gang hun skulle si replikken sin, følte hun hjertet slå hardt i brystet.

Every time she was supposed to say her line, she felt her heart pounding in her chest.

Ola, Kari's best friend, was also in the play.

He was one of the few who knew about her fear.

He gave her shoulder a friendly squeeze and smiled broadly.

"You can do this, Kari," he said encouragingly.

Kari nodded cautiously, but still felt nauseous from the nerves building up.

The rehearsal that day did not go as planned for Kari.

  • Da det var hennes tur, stivnet hun.

When it was her turn, she froze.

The words that were supposed to come out refused to cooperate.

There was a brief pause before Ola, without hesitation, stepped forward and whispered to her, "It's just me and you here.

  • Du kan klare det.

    You can do it."

His friendly words filled her with a new strength.

  • Hun pustet dypt inn og prøvde igjen.

She took a deep breath and tried again.

Slowly but surely, the words began to flow, and as if by magic, she delivered her lines with a confidence she didn’t know she had.

  • Etter øvelsen følte Kari seg lettet.

After the rehearsal, Kari felt relieved.

  • Hun hadde gjort det!

    She had done it!

  • Hun hadde overvunnet frykten og fullført prøven.

She had overcome her fear and completed the test.

  • Med et stort smil, takket hun Ola.

With a big smile, she thanked Ola.

  • "Uten deg.

    "Without you...

I don't know what I would have done," she said.

  • Ola lo og ga henne en klem.

Ola laughed and gave her a hug.

  • "Du gjorde det, Kari!

    "You did it, Kari!"

  • " svarte han.

    he replied.

  • "Neste gang vil du klare det enda bedre.

"Next time you'll do even better."

On her way out of the auditorium, Kari looked at the glittering snow and felt a warmth that didn't come from the cocoa.

She realized that being vulnerable didn't mean one was weak.

On the contrary, it showed how strong one could be when relying on good friends.

From that day on, every time the nervous feeling arose, she reminded herself of Ola's words and smiled.

The fear was still there, but its power over her was much less.

She had found the courage to believe in herself, and it was only the beginning.
