  • Vo Vlkolínci, kde zima šepká do uší ľudí a sneh pokrýva celé svahy, sa nachádzal tradičný drevený domček.

In Vlkolínec, where winter whispers in people's ears and snow covers the entire slopes, there was a traditional wooden cottage.

  • Bol útulný a teplý, uprostred ktorého praskal oheň v krbe.

It was cozy and warm, with a fire crackling in the fireplace in the middle.

  • Na drevenom stole boli prestreté misky a vo vzduchu sa vznášala vôňa čerstvo upečeného chleba.

On the wooden table, bowls were set, and the air was filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread.

Marek sat at the table and looked at his father, Jozef.

  • Kedysi bol hrdý, mladý pastier.

He was once a proud, young shepherd.

Now he was older, but his dream that Marek would follow in his footsteps was just as strong.

Next to him sat Anna, his mother, with a gentle smile on her lips.

  • „Marek, rodina je dôležitá,“ začal Jozef.

"Marek, family is important," began Jozef.

  • „Chceme, aby si prevzal naše zvyky.

"We want you to take over our traditions.

  • Máme tu korene.

    We have our roots here."

  • “Marek váhal.

    Marek hesitated.

  • Jeho srdce mu šepkalo iné slová.

His heart whispered different words to him.

  • Chcel vidieť svet, túžil po inom živote.

He wanted to see the world, yearned for a different life.

His desires were like spring flowers wanting to break through the snow cover.

  • „Otec, ja viem.

    "Father, I know.

  • Mám vás rád.

    I love you.

  • Ale chcem skúsiť niečo iné.

But I want to try something else.

  • Niečo viac,“ Marek vyhŕkol.

    Something more," Marek blurted out.

  • Anna sa na neho láskavo pozrela.

    Anna looked at him kindly.

  • Vedela, že syn má svoje sny.

She knew her son had his dreams.

  • V chalupe zavládlo ticho.

    Silence fell over the cottage.

  • Jediným zvukom bolo tiché praskanie dreva v krbe.

The only sound was the quiet crackling of the wood in the fireplace.

  • Marek stískal ruky, čakajúc na odpoveď svojho otca.

Marek clasped his hands, waiting for his father's response.

  • „Chceš ísť, Marek.

    "You want to go, Marek.

  • Ale čo s tradíciou?

    But what about tradition?

  • Čo s našou zemou?

    What about our land?"

asked Jozef, his voice full of heaviness.

  • „Otec, sľubujem, že sa vrátim.

"Father, I promise I will return.

  • Budem pomáhať doma.

    I will help at home.

  • Budem sa starať o naše zvyky vždy, keď budem môcť.

I will take care of our traditions whenever I can.

  • Ale najskôr potrebujem zistiť, kto som.

But first, I need to find out who I am."

  • “Jozef mlčal.

    Jozef remained silent.

  • Bol prekvapený úprimnosťou svojho syna.

He was surprised by his son's sincerity.

And then, in those eyes, which were the same as Marek's, dashed doubt, but also understanding.

  • „Dobre, syn môj,“ povedal Jozef po chvíli.

"Alright, my son," Jozef said after a while.

  • „Choď.

    "Go.

  • Pozri sa na svet.

    See the world.

  • Ale nikdy nezabudni, kde sú tvoje korene.

But never forget where your roots are.

  • A pamätaj, že vždy máš domov tu.

And remember, you always have a home here."

  • “Marek pocítil, ako sa mu uľavilo.

Marek felt relief wash over him.

For the first time, he felt he could be free and also respect his family.

  • Prikývol s úsmevom a Anna ho objala.

He nodded with a smile, and Anna embraced him.

  • „Ďakujem, otec,“ Marek šepol.

    "Thank you, father," Marek whispered.

  • V tej malej chalupe vo Vlkolínci sa určite stal zázrak.

In that small cottage in Vlkolínec, a miracle surely happened.

During the winter, the family came close together again.

And Marek found a way to merge dreams with tradition, to create his own life that would be in harmony with his roots.
