Bratislavské Staré Mesto sa kúpalo v jarnom slnku.
Bratislava’s Staré Mesto was bathed in the spring sun.
Bol to Veľkonočný pondelok, a ulice boli plné ľudí.
It was Easter Monday, and the streets were full of people.
Na námestí sa konal pouličný jarmok.
A street fair was being held in the square.
Všetko krúžilo okolo tradícií, jedla a hudby.
Everything revolved around traditions, food, and music.
Medzi stáničkami medzi ručne vyrobenými kraslicami maľovanými pestrofarebnými, ručne pletenými korbáčikmi a vône sachroví sa prechádzal Miroslav.
Among the stalls with handmade and brightly painted Easter eggs, hand-braided whips, and the aroma of sachrový sweets, Miroslav walked through.
Miroslav was a young man who sometimes liked to keep his distance.
Avšak, jeho láska k histórii a kultúre ho poháňala v tejto chvíli.
However, his love for history and culture drove him at this moment.
He wanted to write an article for a cultural magazine about local traditions, and this fair was full of inspiration for him.
But he also knew that if he really wanted to understand the traditions, he would have to talk to people.
Myslenka ho trochu desila.
The thought was a bit intimidating for him.
On the other hand, Katarína, an energetic anthropology student, was fascinated by people.
With a map in hand and a notebook under her arm, she looked around the square.
Hľadala niekoho, kto by jej mohol povedať viac o veľkonočných zvykoch pre jej diplomovú prácu.
She was searching for someone who could tell her more about Easter customs for her thesis.
But it was hard to find someone who was willing and had the time at the same time.
Obaja si navzájom všimli.
They noticed each other.
Miroslav si všimol jej zapisovanie poznámok vedľa jedného stánku.
Miroslav noticed her taking notes next to one of the stalls.
Katarína zas uvidela jeho kameru a zvedavý pohľad.
Katarína, in turn, saw his camera and curious look.
It was a situation where they could complement each other.
Miroslav zhlboka sa nadýchol, a odhodlal sa.
Miroslav took a deep breath and made up his mind.
„Ahoj,“ oslovil Katarínu trochu nesmelo.
“Hi,” he addressed Katarína somewhat shyly.
„Robíte si poznámky o veľkonočných tradíciách? Možno by sme si mohli pomôcť navzájom.“
“Are you taking notes on Easter traditions? Maybe we could help each other.”
Katarína looked at the young man with a smile.
„Áno, práve to robím. A pomohla by mi spolupráca.
“Yes, that's exactly what I’m doing. And collaboration would help me.
It seems you’re interested in it too.”
Spoločnými silami začali pracovať.
Together, they began to work.
Hovorili s miestnymi, počúvali ich príbehy a zhromažďovali informácie.
They talked to locals, listened to their stories, and gathered information.
Ich práca, však, dostala nový rozmer, keď sa ocitli uprostred tradičnej veľkonočnej vodnej bitky – "šibačky".
Their work, however, took on a new dimension when they found themselves in the middle of a traditional Easter water fight – "šibačka."
Ľudia všade naokolo sa smiali, striekali vodou a obaja museli nájsť spôsob, ako zachytiť tento okamih, bez toho, aby ich aparáty dostali "kúpeľ".
People all around were laughing, splashing water, and both had to find a way to capture the moment without their equipment getting "a bath."
As the day was drawing to a close, Miroslav and Katarína sat down on a bench, tired but satisfied.
Napísali všetko, čo sa dozvedeli.
They wrote down everything they had learned.
Miroslav felt ready to write his article.
Katarína mala svoj materiál na obohatenie diplomovej práce.
Katarína had material to enrich her thesis.
„Myslím, že sme to zvládli,“ povedal Miroslav s úsmevom, už oveľa sebaistije.
“I think we did it,” Miroslav said with a smile, much more confident now.
„Dokázali sme to spolu.“
“We managed it together.”
„Áno,“ prikývla Katarína.
“Yes,” Katarína nodded.
„Spolupráca je niekedy lepšia, než robiť všetko sám.“
“Sometimes cooperation is better than doing everything alone.”
And so they agreed to collaborate on more projects about Slovakia’s cultural traditions.
Miroslav sa naučil viac dôverovať svojim schopnostiam komunikovať, zatiaľ čo Katarína ocenila silu tímovej práce.
Miroslav learned to trust his communication skills more, while Katarína appreciated the power of teamwork.
Bratislava brought them together and enriched them not only with knowledge but also with a new friendship.
