On a sunny day in Ljubljana, as nature was waking up and the old city architecture was glowing in the warm rays, Luka hurried through the crowd at Prešeren Square.

  • Ljudje so se smejali, otroci so tekali naokrog in ulični umetniki so risali na pločnik.

People were laughing, children were running around, and street artists were drawing on the pavement.

Luka was happy because he had arranged to meet his friend Ana.

Ana was very important to Luka, as she was always full of energy and smiles.

While rushing through the square, Luka noticed a person he thought was Ana.

She was dressed in bright clothes and her hair was shining in the sun.

Without thinking, he ran towards her with wide-open arms and hugged her tightly, saying, "Ana, how nice to see you!"

But when he looked at the person's face he was hugging, he realized it wasn't Ana at all, but Maja, the mayor of Ljubljana.

At this unusual encounter, Maja was initially surprised, but soon relaxed and started laughing.

Luka turned as red as a beet and awkwardly apologized, "I'm sorry, Madam Mayor, I really thought you were my friend."

  • Maja je z razumevanjem pokimala.

    Maja nodded understandingly.

  • Nasmehnila se je in rekla, "Nič hudega, Luka, saj imava vendar skupno prijateljico, Ano."

She smiled and said, "No harm done, Luka. After all, we have a mutual friend, Ana."

  • Luka je začudeno pogledal, "Poznate Ano?"

Luka looked puzzled, "You know Ana?"

  • "Seveda," je dejala Maja, "je moja svetovalka in dobra prijateljica. Z njo sva pravkar na poti na kavo."

"Of course," said Maja, "she is my advisor and a good friend. We were just on our way to get coffee."

  • Luka se je nasmehnil in se umiril.

    Luka smiled and calmed down.

  • V tem trenutku je pristopila Ana, v smehu opazovala prizor in rekla: "No, Luka, zdaj vsaj poznaš županjo malo bolje!"

At that moment, Ana approached, observing the scene with laughter and said, "Well, Luka, now at least you know the mayor a little better!"

  • Vsi skupaj so se zasmejali in se odpravili na kavo.

They all laughed together and headed for coffee.

During the conversation, Luka realized that a mistake can sometimes be an opportunity for new acquaintances and that Ljubljana is full of surprises.

At the end of the meeting, Maja invited Luka to participate as a volunteer in an upcoming city festival, which Luka gladly accepted.

  • Kako lepa napaka je bila ta zmešnjava!

What a beautiful mistake this mix-up was!

New bonds were formed amidst the lively square, and Luka left richer by one story to tell his friends.

At the same time, he knew that Ljubljana will always be a place of surprises and friendships.
