The Fighter's Brew: A Tale of Persistence and Passion
On a cold winter morning in a small alley in Beijing, Zhang Wei walked into a café alone. By now, the smog in Beijing had cleared, and the pure winter sunlight shone through the café's windows.
Zhang Wei pushed open the café door, causing it to creak and catching the attention of the people inside. He paid no mind and continued walking in with the sound of his footsteps echoing on the tiled floor. Despite wearing a thick mask, gloves, and a hat, a trace of coldness could still be seen on his face. His eyes were determined, reflecting the persistence of a fighter.
Customer (Zhang Wei): Hello, wǒ yào yì bēi kāfēi. (Hello, I would like a cup of coffee.)
The barista, a young man with a smile, responded immediately upon hearing Zhang Wei's words.
Barista: Hǎo de, nín yào shénme yàng de kāfēi? (Alright, what kind of coffee would you like?)
Zhang Wei didn't answer immediately; he seemed to be lost in thought, his gaze wandering around the café.
Customer (Zhang Wei): Wǒ yào yì bēi hēi kāfēi, bú yào tiānr. (I would like a cup of black coffee, not sweet.)
Zhang Wei's response was concise, causing the barista to pause for a moment. He nodded and smiled to show his understanding.
Barista: Méi wèntí, nín děng yíxià. (No problem, please wait a moment.)
Zhang Wei nodded slightly and quietly took a seat by the window. His gaze once again became distant, as if he was contemplating something.
Customer (Zhang Wei): Xièxiè. (Thank you.)
The barista smiled in response and began carefully brewing coffee for Zhang Wei.
咖啡师:Bú kèqì。
Barista: Bú kèqì. (You're welcome.)
It was an ordinary morning, filled with the fragrance of freshly ground coffee beans and the warmth of the winter sun. Amidst this cold winter, Zhang Wei found a hint of warmth in the steam of the coffee, a trace of the persistence and passion that belonged to a fighter. Despite the temporary struggles caused by the smog, he continued to move forward, just like that cup of black coffee he enjoyed. It may be bitter, but it is full of the rich flavor of its original taste.
